Version 1.0.1

Void Descent v1.0.1 Patch Notes

Following the official launch, this update focuses on fine-tuning the experience based on player feedback, addressing stability issues, introducing haptic feedback support, and tuning weapon balances to keep the challenge fair but engaging.

UI Updates & Quality of Life

  • Updated the icon for Warp Sling so that it has its own unique icon and no longer shares the same icon as the Ion Cannon.
  • Added prompts after each unlock milestone reminding the player to export their save, preventing the loss of progress.
  • Added a new setting "Upgrade Lockout Timer" which, when enabled, will lock each upgrade screen behind a 2-second timer to prevent accidental selections in the heat of battle.
  • Updated the weapon performance tables so all weapon names are consistent across the whole game.
  • Added a new setting "Show Controller Cursor" which will display the directional arrow when using controller, similar to the mouse control cursor.
  • Haptic feedback has been added to controller and Android devices (not compatible with iOS). UI interactions, taking a hit to your shield, and taking actual HP damage all now have unique feedback you can feel.
  • Added a small (i) icon to the weapon performance table; this will open up a build recap where you can see the details of your build throughout the run.
  • Cleaned up the metrics shown at the end of a Void Descent run so the window is less cluttered.
  • When cleansing a debuff in Void Descent mode, the debuff will now remain in the Void tab on the pause menu with a "cleansed" status.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where Vanguard's nova explosion was not rendering in 3D mode.
  • Added more stability to cursor locking in an effort to mitigate a bug where alt-tabbing in Firefox could cause the cursor and ship movement to become stuck.
  • Fixed a bug where enabling / disabling widescreen mode would distort the game; it now prompts the player and reloads the game properly.
  • Fixed a bug where the Masochism, Immaculate, and Restraint bonuses were applying to Void Descent runs that never reached the first checkpoint.

Balance Changes

  • Kinetic Barrier's base damage and late-game scaling have been significantly reduced. The unique scaling of this weapon with movement speed, armor, and max HP was making it unintentionally overpowered for Void Descent mode. These updates bring it back in line with its original design, which was a high-defense tank class that only outputs significant damage if players specifically build into that single weapon.
  • Shard Amplifier now gives a 25% bonus for 10 levels, matching the new checkpoint cadence introduced in v1.0.
  • Combat rank has been tweaked so that it's a bit easier to start progressing your rank in the first 10 levels while there are less enemies around.

Thank you again to everyone reporting bugs and sharing your builds! Keep the feedback coming as we continue refining and adding more!
